It takes K a moment to open his end, considering the stranger on his screen and the name he's brought with him. Stress, he thinks. Discomfort, carefully schooled to calm.

He could be wrong, he's unfamiliar with this man, but he was once good at what he did.

Soon, though, concern delicate around an otherwise politely attentive face:]

I do. Is he alright?

[Zoro patiently leaves the ball in K's court until he responds. His own tone is measured and even as he reassures him.]

Yeah. He's fine.

He's offering me the option of signing a contract with him, but said I needed to talk to you before we agree on anything. That sound fair to you?

[ ...oh. That's.

K blinks, processing that, and opens his mouth to say they're not contracted so it doesn't matter, but stops. Vrenille told him to do this, and even if K doesn't know why - and he doesn't - isn't that what matters more?

He settles back a bit where he's sitting, and nods, willing at least.]

I suppose it does. Did he say what about?

He said it could be about anything. Sounded like he just wants to see if I can hold a conversation with people in his circle.

How long have you known him?

It's... complicated.

He was one of the first LIERs I spoke to when I arrived. I wasn't here for a while, and didn't remember anyone at first, but the memories came back.

Nineteen months, as far as I can tell.
