The room goes blessedly dark when she closes the door, so he doesn't even mind that it slams; the only light in the room comes via the closed blinds, and he avoids where the street lights from outside fall on the floor. He sets the bag just inside the door, and stands for a moment, unsure. He should invite her further in, but she's angry - hurt - wants answers now.

The problem comes in that he has no idea where to begin.

"Barry was there," is what he ends up starting with. "He knew to wake you and to watch for anything trying to finish the fight with you. I couldn't do anything else to help, so I left."

Start there. See how much she still needs to yell at him. For his part, he starts back to find the edge of the bed with it's disrupted nest of blankets where he's clearly been spending all his time.
